Day 1:  Kamea safely and magnificently whelped a litter of ten puppies early this morning! At 2:00am she woke me and within 15 minutes she whelped Purple With A Purpose (F), River Blue (M) and Champagne Toast (M, first liver).

She bit off every cord , practically tied them and kept the babies cleaned up as her labor progressed.

Not once did I have to cut a cord or clean up a newborn - she is amazing!

At 4:00am she whelped three more in 38 minutes: Outback Valentine (F), Ivy League (M) and It's Pouring Pink In Cleveland (F).

At 5:08am Kamea kept to the "threes" taking an hour and ten minutes to whelp Miss Red Velvet Cupcake (F), Sugar Maple Leap (F, second liver) and On The Hunt (M, who swooshed out butt first).

Here are the two livers just hours old.

Then things slowed down; two hours later she whelped Platinum Cloud who happened to be a very big girl riding way up back. Platinum dove into the world with gusto - perhaps she is better named Platinum Pasta.

We are delighted with the way Kamea is managing her litter - whether show cupcakes, high flyers or sweet tempered companions and therapy dogs - we believe these ten have great potential.
But starting out at one day old - they are first responding to excellent care.  Please keep posted here!
