Waiting for Puppies!

Spring has arrived in fine style in NE Ohio.  Everything is in bud or blossoming, the snow is a distant memory and Kamea is nearly ready to whelp her litter of puppies.  In February, she flew to Utah where  she mated with Monte on Valentine's Day and then twice thereafter on the 16th and the 18th.  They played and romped as happy lovers will and now this litter that has been planned for more than two years is nearly here!

                                          Kamea                                                       Monte

Kamea is a beautiful outcross between the Rowerdennan Kennel (Hawaii) and Rockledge Kennel (Utah/Nevada) with separate great heritages behind her that are more telling on her pedigree page.  She is our "one and only" foundation female for Noble Dalmatians (California/Ohio).

The humans in Kamea's family are quite excited about the upcoming litter, but "Noble Kona Kamea" is living up to her name.  "Kamea" means "one and only;"  "Kona" means "gentle,"  "calm"  or  a "favored lady" with those qualities.  The "Kona" coast side of the Polynesian islands is the favored, leeward side of gentle breezes and good sailing.  That is our Noble Kona Kamea: "Noble Lady One and Only."  We expect she will pass these fine temperament qualities through to her puppies.  She is calm and poised, regal in her waiting.

This morning while I worked setting up this blog, she nested in her whelping box while we both listened to Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata.  Life is truly good waiting here between Good Friday and Easter Sunday and being thankful for God's many blessings.

  1. Very Nice Tim and Hilary. Kamea looks contended just waiting for her time to get near.
We look forward to seeing those pretty babies.
